Yesterday, Brentt had an article published in the San Diego Union Tribune called "Budget and a Baby" Check it out here. I am so proud of him and how he has been able to dedicate his career to helping other adoptive parents with the complex financial issues that arise.
People always say to find what you love, and then get paid for it. Brentt is living that cliche and is successful because of it. If you want more information, you can contact him via his website: www.adoptivefamilyplanning.com.
Thanks for checking in! I couldn't wait to share.
Cheers!

Finally... an Easter craft!
Now that my scrap room is almost done, I've been able to get to my stuff and make an easy Easter craft. After releasing a little pent-up creative juice, I was finally able to relax. Pathetic, I know! We all have our coping mechanisms, creating stuff is mine.
So here is a tutorial for the easy Easter egg project. I first saw it at the Crafty Secrets booth at CHA and thought, "I can make that." You really can make it too!
Supplies:
I don't think I've ever written such simple instructions... hmmm... layer flowers and button, push pin through and push into styrofoam egg. Repeat. It seems too simple, right? A picture may say it better:
Seriously, try the egg project! It will give you so much creative-satisfaction and you will be amazed at how little time it takes.
Next week, I think I will reveal my new sanctuary....I mean, scrap room . I am putting in the final details (and Brentt still needs to hang the doors). So much vintage, French inspiration. It is simply dreamy!
Thanks for checking in!
Cheers!

What's new?
What's new? Oh, such a loaded question! Are you sure you are really wondering? If so, read on. You'll get a looooonnnnngggg answer. We have been busy!
For starters, Spring is definitely here. The kids and I have planted a garden and they check their seeds and plants everyday. It has been in the 80's all week so it should really take off.
Maddie is playing softball and is having fun. I think 3 games a week plus practice is way too much of a commitment for 6 year olds. I certainly did NOT know what we were getting into. Lesson learned... It should wind down after we are done playing the rain make-up games.
On the homefront, we have been working on my scrapbook room. (A little spring cleaning gone crazy!!!) The trim should be finished this weekend and then I'll just be putting it back together. What a project! It all started by me wanting to change the wall color. Now we have lots of new electrical, cabinets, desk, curtains, etc... It helps that my hubby is handy but I cannot believe I have made it 2 months with no "creative space." I am truly suffering! ;) Here are a couple sneak peaks:

So, since we have been so busy we decided we needed a little day trip to be together as a family. We drove out to the desert to see the wild flowers in bloom. I think we were a little early in the season but this is what we found:

This was also Max's first trip in the back pack. He loved being able to see everything from a new height.

Max is 5 months old!
Today, Max is 5 months old. So hard to believe that time has passed so quickly. He is such a happy guy!
He has started rolling over and he has a new favorite food: butternut squash. I just wish I could freeze him at this age.
So much new stuff to share (including sneak peeks of my new scrapbook room) but I am way too tired tonight. Have a great night! Thanks for checking in!

Spring already?
It feels like spring here! I know the calendar disagrees and that many of you still shoveling snow will disagree but...I think Spring may have snuck up on us here. In our mild climate Spring and Fall weather only last a couple weeks.
This morning we had an early morning rain and then Max and I went for a walk around the lake. You could really smell the Eucalyptus trees and we even saw some baby duckies. Too bad Max was sleeping and missed them. No matter, the dog barked and chased them away anyway.
The sure sign of Spring in our yard is our peach tree....
Yep, its blooming. Time to plan the garden and stir up the soil. I'm excited to grow food for Max's baby food.
Another sign of Spring is the outdoor sports have begun. Max loves to jump in his jumperoo on the back patio. Last week, he jumped himself to sleep.
Maddie is playing softball this year, and so far, enjoys it. I have some great pictures but they are trapped in my scraproom on my external hard drive. (See the redecorating mess below.)
Sam has been riding his bike ALOT (like father, like son!) and has been working on stream crossings.
Oddly, he loves getting all muddy and wet. I just think boys are wired to find a muddy puddle and love it.
Good or bad, he can only do this here in the Spring. After the rains stop, we'll be back to being a desert landscape.
For me, spring means it is time for spring cleaning. Brentt is a little annoyed at how far I've gone because I'm not only cleaning out closets, I want to redecorate rooms too. Taking down wallpaper, retexturing walls, painting, sewing curtains, etc... It is a lot of work but my scraproom/office is going to be fabulous, someday. Here is what it looks like now:
ugh...Like I said, someday. Hopefully some wonderful Spring day. (My creativity cannot be contained until summer!)
Lent has begun so.... yes, my conclusion is that Spring has arrived. I hope your Spring arrives soon too!
Cheers!

Eyes wide open
(Sorry, it is sideways! I'm not sure how to fix it.)

Max will be 4 months old tomorrow. Hard to believe. It seems like he has been a part of our lives for so much longer than that.
I also can't believe it is Valentine's Day tomorrow. The most romance I'm expecting out of my husband is a little help taking the wall paper off of my scrap room. (Low expectations means maybe I'll be happy if he even remembers.) Did I mention I am re-decorating? A vintage french theme! I'm so very excited! Pink, pink, pink!
Cheers!

What a week!
I can't believe this past week has flown by already! What a crazy week!
We started our week with Max's baptism last Sunday. It was such a nice day with a gathering of family and friends. I have no doubt that having an open adoption and involving your child's birth family is the right thing to do. You can never have too many people to love your kids! (It also helps that we like them a lot too! ;) )
And then on Monday, my baby girl turned 6! Now, I'm starting to feel a little older. How do I have a 6 year old? And such a sweet, beautiful one too!
Since we had a huge party last year, we told her we would just have a small family celebration and go out to dinner. She chose to go to "The Rat" (aka Chuck.E.Cheese). I will not sugar coat anything here.... I HATE CHUCK E. CHEESE!!! It has been 2 years since we've been there but Maddie really wanted to go so I swallowed my snobbishness and agreed to go. I was reaffirmed why I hate this place and why we call it "The Rat." It's filthy, the people who work there are lazy, the food is gross, and they do not serve any good wine or beer. Yet, somehow the kids had fun. Although when we got home, Maddie said she didn't have as much fun as the kids on the commercial on TV did. Oh! A lesson in marketing....??? And even she wanted to be disinfected. So... Perhaps next year we can talk her into something nicer.
The rest of the week was filled with running to gymnastics, play dates, choir, and softball. And the kids and I also went up to Hollywood on Thursday night to have dinner with my brother who was in town. I could kick myself that I didn't bring the camera! The kids were great troopers on our 4 hour trip up there! It should have only taken 2 1/2 hours but traffic, 3 bathroom stops, and one feed-the-baby stop delayed our adventure. Nonetheless, we had a nice time and they slept the whole drive back.
The rainy day yesterday was a great excuse to stay home and do laundry. Ugh! I'm so happy a new week has begun! Off to a super bowl party today. Thanks for checking in!
Cheers!

These are the days...
Tomorrow we are baptizing Max. He is at such a sweet, wonderful age. I just want to freeze these moments in time. He is such a happy baby, so curious about his world. Although I look forward to watching him grow in life, physically, and spiritually, I want to preserve this innocence as long as I can.

These are the days!
Cheers!
