Something old, something new,

You know the old wedding adage... "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue." That phrase, my Mother-in-law's upcoming marriage, and some new scrapping goodies inspired me to create a wedding layout. In May, Brentt and I will be married 10 YEARS! My how time flies! Since I've only been scrapbooking for 5 years, I never scrapbooked any of my wedding photos. So...I bought some old vintage lace from a FABULOUS store on etsy.com called $5 French Market and it found a perfect home on this layout.
The papers are the brand new Cosmo Cricket line called Ever After. Its so different than any other wedding papers- the colors are awesome. I bought it at Paper Tales in case you're in the San Diego area. The flowers and bling are from Prima.

Speaking of Prima...last weekend my friend Shalamar and I went to a class by Prima at Yellowbird Scrapbook Store. We used the paintable pages, bling, flowers and painted with Glimmer Mist to make this card: and this mini-book made from 1 12" by 12" sheet of paper,
AND this paintable layout which I'm sure will showcase some fabulous photo.... someday...And so now... all this creativity has left me with THIS MESS of beautiful new favorite products! I don't dare show you the rest of the room!!! But some goodness will come from this mess. You can already see a half done layout and a mini-book, right? Maybe make a card with the left over scraps...? Someday... hopefully this weekend.
Cheers to you and yours! I hope you have a great weekend!

Bling

Since my husband put a a diamond on my left hand, I've become a big fan of bling. The older I get, the more attracted to bling I get (Hint! Honey, our 10 year anniversary is coming up... Hint!) Sparkly, glittery, wonderful bling. So, when Papertales, a LSS of mine was offering a glitter house class, I signed up right away. Here is the result:

Isn't it dreamy? And surprisingly easy. The base is a paper mache box covered in vintage sheet music. The top also begins with covering it with the sheet music but then you add a crepe paper circle, your house, lots of glitter and embellishments. The house is just made from Bazzill cardstock and then covered in glitter. You can find the pattern for the house here on Memory Makers Magazine. I'm sure you can enlarge it too, I just haven't tried that yet. Oh and the fabulous "ice" effect on the roof is simply hot glue with fine glitter sprinkled over it before it dries.

And because once I make one thing I love, I have to improve on it and make another. Now, I'm not sure this is an improvement because I made it so differently but I still think it's brilliant and full of sparkle and bling.I started this one with a pre-made paper mache box. I mounted it on a mirror to amplify the bling and the roof of this box comes off. It looks stunning with a battery-operated candle inside. My favorite accent, and the king of this castle: Mr. Bling. Hee... hee...

I hope you enjoy and will make one for yourself. Thanks for checking in! Please come back next week because I'll be starting my 12 days of Christmas posts.

Vote for Paper Tales

Ok, bear with me while I get on my scrapbook soapbox for a minute....

There is a new scrapbook store here in San Diego that just rocks! It's called Paper Tales. I know I've mentioned them before but they are a new favorite of mine. They opened about 5 months ago and the owner, Michelle, has a real intuition about what is hot in the scrap-world and what people really want. She carries all the latest Cosmo Cricket, Jenni Bolin, Pink Paislee, October Afternoon, Making Memories, Heidi Swapp, Melissa Frances, Amuse Stamps, and odds and ends vintage stuff. Their classes are unique, the people are so nice, and its a great place to visit if you need some inspiration.

So... I tell you all this so that you can not only stop in and support them but also vote for them. A local news station, 10News, makes an A-list of the best stores and restaurants in San Diego. I think this place needs to make the list. Please vote for them here. There are a lot of great crafting stores here but this one is unique. For example: The Melissa Frances (the lady herself) is coming on Sunday to teach a class. (I wish I could go!) And because I shop around, I can say that they have been getting the new stuff from CHA much quicker than the other stores.

So... please vote for them. Please visit them. I'll step down now... ;)
